Oscar Hewett, had lived for 50 years in Webb City, MO., address given as 1201 West Daugherty street. The photo at right identifies him as a conductor on the Southwest Missouri Railway. The picture was taken just north of the old car barn (pictured 2nd) and south of the West End Pharmacy in 1919. He had the Joplin to Oronogo run. In the late 1938, the street car was slowly phased out and automobile because more plentiful and popular. After that, his Missouri Death Certificate indicated that he was employed as a bus driver for the public transit.
He was the son of John Hewlett and Jane Brook Hewlett. His wife Gertrude survived. Information provided by Nancy Brewer
